Instead, it contains an active ingredient called 'loperamide', which works by calming your digestive system down. This helps your digestive system get back to normal, leading to firmer stools. Imodium Original capsules are used to treat acute (short-lived) attacks of diarrhoea, helping stools become more solid and less frequent. Ingredients The active ingredient is Loperamide Hydrochloride (2 mg). The other ingredients are Lactose, Maize Starch, Talc, Magnesium Stearate, Capsule Cap (Titanium Dioxide, Yellow Ferric Oxide, Indigotindisulphonate Sodium, Gelatin) and Capsule body (Titanium Dioxide, Black Ferrous Oxide, Indigotindisulphonate Sodium, Erythrosin, Gelatin). Directions Over 12 years: 2 capsules initially followed, if necessary, by one capsule after each loose bowel movement. Maximum 8 capsules in 24 hours. Under 12 years: not to be given.
